Tabarka, Tunisia(opens in a new window)

Tabarka (Arabic: طبرقة Ṭbarqa) is a coastal town located in north-western Tunisia, close to the border with Algeria. Tabarka was occupied at various times by Punics, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Genoese and Ottomans. The town is dominated by an offshore rock on which there remains a Genoese castle. Nationalist leader Habib Bourguiba, later president of post-independence Tunisia, was exiled on Tabarka by the French colonial authorities in 1952. Tourist attractions include coral fishing, the Coralis Festival of underwater photography, and its annual jazz festival.

Sidi el Barrak Dam(Opens in a new window)

The Sidi el Barrak Dam is an embankment dam centred 18 km northeast of Tabarak and 2 km from the Mediterranean Sea on the Oued Zouara River in the Beja Governorate, Tunisia. Constructed between 1994 and 2000, the primary purpose of the dam is water supply. As part of the Sidi el Barrak Development Project water stored in the dam is pumped to the Seyjame Dam, at a rate of 265000000 m3 annually. This water is supplied to Tunis, Cap Bon and the Sahel including Sfax for municipal use along with other agricultural purposes. The entire project was completed in 2002.

El Feidja National Park is located in Northwest Tunisia and has an area of 2765 ha. It is home to many animals, notably, Barbary stag, African golden wolf, and Barbary boar.
