Moro Rock(Opens in a new window)

Moro Rock is a granite dome rock formation in Sequoia National Park, California, United States. It is located in the center of the park, at the head of Moro Creek, between Giant Forest and Crescent Meadow. A stairway, designed by the National Park Service and built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps, is cut into and poured onto the rock, so that visitors can hike to the top. The view from the rock encompasses much of the Park, including the Great Western Divide. Use of this trail is discouraged during thunderstorms and when it is snowing.

Giant Forest(Opens in a new window)

The Giant Forest, famed for its giant sequoia trees, is within Sequoia National Park. This montane forest, situated at over 6000 ft above mean sea level in the western Sierra Nevada of California, covers an area of 1880 acre. The Giant Forest is the most accessible of all giant sequoia groves, as it has over 40 mi of hiking trails.

Lake Kaweah(Opens in a new window)

Lake Kaweah is a reservoir near Lemon Cove in Tulare County, California. The lake is formed by Terminus Dam on the Kaweah River. The river originates in the San Joaquin Valley beneath the Sierra Nevada mountains and drains about 560 sqmi into Lake Kaweah. From Lake Kaweah, the river flows toward the city of Visalia, splitting into the Kaweah River and St. Johns River as it flows west into the Tulare Lakebed. The lake has a capacity of 185000 acre.ft. A project to raise the lake 21 ft was completed in 2004. The lake now impounds an additional 42000 acre.ft and downstream flood protection to downstream communities and agricultural land has been increased.

Sequoia National Park is a national park in the southern Sierra Nevada east of Visalia, California, in the United States. It was established on September 25, 1890. The park spans 404,064 acre. Encompassing a vertical relief of nearly 13000 ft, the park contains among its natural resources the highest point in the contiguous 48 United States, Mount Whitney, at 14505 ft above sea level. The park is south of and contiguous with Kings Canyon National Park; the two are administered by the National Park Service together as the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. They were designated the UNESCO Sequoia-Kings Canyon Biosphere Reserve in 1976.
