Manipal is a suburb and university town within Udupi, in coastal Karnataka, India. Manipal is located five kilometres away from the centre of Udupi City, in Udupi District, Karnataka (state) in south western India. It is administered by the Udupi City Municipality. The suburb is located in coastal Karnataka, 62 km north of Mangalore and 8 km east of the Arabian Sea. From its location on a plateau, at an altitude of about 75 metres above sea level, it commands a panoramic view of the Arabian Sea to the west and the Western Ghats to the east.

Kasturba Medical College(Opens in a new window)

Kasturba Medical College, Manipal (KMC) is a medical college based in Manipal, Karnataka, India. Established by T.M.A. Pai on 30 June 1953, KMC was the first self-financing medical college in India. Today, students from 44 countries have graduated from KMC, and the medical degree (MBBS) is recognized worldwide, including by the General Medical Council, ECFMG, Australian Medical Council and Malaysian Medical Council among several others. KMC was under the purview of the Mangalore University. In 1993, the government of India granted Deemed University status to Manipal University (formerly known as MAHE) which saw KMC coming under its wing. KMC has exchange programs with Loma Linda University, United States, Operation Eyesight Universal, Canada, Dundee University, Dundee, Scotland, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, United States and Maastricht University, Netherlands.

The Kasturba Medical College International Center (KMCIC) was the Manipal, India campus of American University of Antigua College of Medicine. The college was forged with an agreement between Manipal University (formerly known as the Manipal Academy of Higher Education) and the American University of Antigua College of Medicine (since purchased by [http://www.manipalgroup.com/aua.htm The Manipal Group]). KMCIC was established in October 2005, with a focus to train undergraduate and graduate students in the Basic Sciences of the medical curriculum in preparation for the USMLE Step 1 Examinations. KMCIC functions as a distinct college of Manipal University, with its own administrative body led by Dean Poornima Baliga. It started to phase out students from its campus in Manipal and relocate them to AUA's Pre-Medical and Basic Science campus in Antigua in 2011. As of 2015, no students are currently enrolled at KMCIC's Manipal campus. AUA has since then dissolved that campus after receiving California site selection approval among other states as AUA site is highly favorable among many states for placement of students. Manipal campus in its entirety is left with only secretarial and administrative staff on hand in Manipal serving to provide former students transcripts and paperwork where needed.

Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College (MGM College) is an educational institute founded by T.M.A. Pai in 1949. It is located in the town of Udupi, Karnataka, India. MGM College is run by the Academy of General Education, Manipal. The college is divided into a Pre-university section and a degree college section. MGM College has a library, computer centre, and single basketball court.
