Kavarna, Bulgaria(opens in a new window)

Kavarna (Bulgarian: Каварна is a Black Sea coastal town and seaside resort in the Dobruja region of northeastern Bulgaria. It lies 42 km northeast of Varna, 43 km from Dobrich and 43 km south of the border with Romania. It is the principal town of Kavarna Municipality, part of Dobrich Province. As of December 2009, the town has a population of 11,397 inhabitants. A little yacht port, a fishing base, a spacious beach and a resort complex exist in the town. The landmark Cape Kaliakra is located a few kilometers to the east, as is the tiny beachfront resort of Rusalka. Three 18-hole golf courses with villa communities and marinas are being developed nearby, two of the courses are designed by Gary Player and one by Ian Woosnam.

Kaliakra (Bulgarian: Калиакра) is a long and narrow headland in the Southern Dobruja region of the northern Bulgarian Black Sea Coast, 12 km east of Kavarna, 60 km northeast of Varna and 65 km southwest of Mangalia. The coast is steep with vertical cliffs reaching 70 m down to the sea. Kaliakra is a nature reserve, where dolphins and cormorants can be observed. It sits on the Via Pontica, a major bird migration route from Africa into Eastern and Northern Europe. Many rare and migrant birds can be seen here in spring and autumn and, like much of this coastline, is home to several rare breeding birds (e.g. pied wheatear and a local race of European shag). The rest of the reserve also has unusual breeding birds; saker falcon, lesser grey shrike and a host of others.

The Balchik Palace (Bulgarian: Дворец в Балчик, Dvorets v Balchik; Romanian: Castelul din Balcic) is a palace in the Bulgarian Black Sea town and resort of Balchik in Southern Dobruja. The official name of the palace was the Quiet Nest Palace. It was constructed between 1926 and 1937, during the Romanian control of the region, for the needs of Queen Marie of Romania. The palace complex consists of a number of residential villas, a smoking hall, a wine cellar, a power station, a monastery, a holy spring, a chapel and many other buildings, as well as most notably a park that is today a state-run botanical garden. Balchik Palace is 17 m above sea level.

Kaliakra Lighthouse (Bulgarian: Калиакра морски фар) - a lighthouse located in the Southern Dobruja Region on the northern part of Bulgaria's coast of the Black Sea; in Bulgaria. The cylindrical stone lighthouse was built in 1901, with a lantern and gallery rising from the top of the lighthouse keeper's house; both painted white.

The Shabla Lighthouse (Bulgarian: Шабленски фар) is a lighthouse located 5 kilometres east of the town of Shabla, Dobrich Province; in Bulgaria. The lighthouse was built in 1856 by the Ottoman Empire and is the oldest lighthouse in Bulgaria. The lighthouse is located at the easternmost point of Bulgaria.
