El Alto (Spanish for "The Heights") is the second-largest city in Bolivia, located adjacent to La Paz in Pedro Domingo Murillo Province on the Altiplano highlands. El Alto is today one of Bolivia's fastest-growing urban centers, with an estimated population of 943,558 in 2020. It is also the highest major city in the world, with an average elevation of.

Mi Teleférico(Opens in a new window)

Mi Teleférico, also known as Teleférico La Paz–El Alto (La Paz–El Alto Cable Car), is an aerial cable car urban transit system serving the La Paz–El Alto metropolitan area in Bolivia. As of September 2017, the 17.3 km system consists of 17 stations along five lines: Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Orange. The system was built by the Austrian company Doppelmayr Garaventa Group. Phase One, which consists of the Red, Yellow, and Green lines, opened in 2014. Phase Two will expand the system by an additional eight lines, starting with the Blue and Orange lines, which both opened in 2017. Two lines (Red and Yellow) connect the neighboring cities of La Paz and El Alto, which are separated by an elevation change of about 400 m.

Chacaltaya(Opens in a new window)

Chacaltaya (Mollo language for "bridge of winds" or "winds meeting point", Aymara for "cold road") is a mountain in the Cordillera Real, one of the mountain ranges of the Cordillera Oriental, itself a range of the Bolivian Andes. Its elevation is 5421 m. Chacaltaya's glacier — which was as old as 18,000 years — had an area of 0.22 km2 in 1940, which had been reduced to 0.01 km2 in 2007 and was completely gone by 2009. Half of the meltdown, as measured by volume, took place before 1980. The final meltdown after 1980, due to missing precipitation and the warm phase of El Niño, resulted in the glacier's disappearance in 2009. The glacier was formerly one of the highest in South America, located about 30 km from La Paz, near Huayna Potosí mountain.

The National Museum of Archaeology of Bolivia (Spanish: Museo Nacional de Arqueología de Bolivia ) is the national archaeology museum of Bolivia. It is located in the capital of La Paz, two blocks east of the Prado. Operated by the National Institute of Archaeology, a specialized agency of the Deputy Minister of Culture, it is said to be the most prominent museum in Bolivia. The museum represents the cultural antecedents of the Bolivian people from the pre-Columbian era. There are displays of carved sculptures, as well as ceramic and painted objects in stone and metals.
