Tralee, Ireland(opens in a new window)

Tralee is the county town of County Kerry in the south-west of Ireland. The town is on the northern side of the neck of the Dingle Peninsula, and is the largest town in County Kerry. The town's population was 26,079 as of the 2022 census, making it the 15th largest urban settlement in Ireland. Tralee is known for the Rose of Tralee International Festival, which has been held annually in August since 1959.

Kerry County Museum(Opens in a new window)

Kerry County Museum is a museum located in Tralee, County Kerry in Ireland. The museum is based in the Ashe Memorial Hall in the centre of Tralee. The aim of the museum is to collect, record, preserve and display the material heritage of Co. Kerry. Under the National Monuments Act (1994) and the National Cultural Institutions Act (1997), it is a designated repository for archaeological artefacts in Co. Kerry.

Blennerville Windmill(Opens in a new window)

Blennerville Windmill is a tower mill in Blennerville, Co. Kerry and the tallest of its kind in Europe at 21.3 metres high. Blennerville Windmill was built by Sir Rowland Blennerhassett in 1800 whom the village of Blennerville is named after. The windmill was used for grinding corn for both the local population and for export to Britain. However, by the mid-late 19th century due to the introduction of steam power, the silting of the river channel at Blennerville, the opening of the Tralee Ship Canal in 1846, and the building of Fenit Harbour in 1880; the windmill fell into ruins. In 1981 Tralee Urban District Council purchased the windmill with work beginning on restoring it in June 1984 before being completed and opened by An Taoiseach Charles Haughey in 1990. It is now impressively restored and open to the public with a visitors centre comprising a craft centre, exhibition gallery, audio-visual presentation and restaurant. There is a guided tour of the five-storey windmill detailing the grain milling process. Blennerville Windmill is now Ireland´s only commercially operated windmill in existence.

Banna Strand(Opens in a new window)

Banna Strand, also known as Banna Beach, is situated in Tralee Bay. It is an Atlantic Ocean beach extending from Ballyheigue Beach at the Blackrock in the North to Barrow Beach at its southern edge, located in County Kerry. It is located approximately 12 km (7 mi) north west of Tralee. It features sand dunes along its entire length which rise up to 12 metres (40 ft). The mountains of the Dingle Peninsula can be seen on the south west horizon. Many residents from Tralee make a trip to Banna Strand on the warmest summer days.

Ardfert Cathedral(Opens in a new window)

Ardfert Cathedral (Irish: Ardeaglais Ard Fhearta) is a ruined former cathedral in Ardfert, County Kerry, in Ireland. Dedicated to Saint Brendan, it was the seat of the Diocese of Ardfert from 1117. It is now a heritage tourism site.
