Lindau, Germany(opens in a new window)

Lindau (German: Lindau, Lindau am Bodensee; German pronunciation: /ˈlɪndaʊ̯lang/; Low Alemannic: Lindou) is a major town and island on the eastern side of Lake Constance (Bodensee in German) in Bavaria, Germany. It is the capital of the county (Landkreis) of Lindau, Bavaria and is near the borders of the Austrian state of Vorarlberg, and the Swiss cantons of St. Gallen and Thurgau. The coat of arms of Lindau town is a linden tree, referring to the supposed origin of the town's name. The historic town of Lindau is located on the 0.68 km2 island of the same name, which is connected with the mainland by a road bridge and a railway causeway leading to Lindau station.

International Rhine Regulation Railway(Opens in a new window)

The International Rhine Regulation Railway was an industrial railway situated on both banks of the Alpine Rhine canal to the south of its outfall into Lake Constance. As this stretch of the River Rhine forms the border between Austria and Switzerland, the railway is located in both countries (further north the border follows westwards along the Alter Rhein). Large parts of the system have been preserved, and part of the tracks are used as heritage railway.

Bregenz Forest Railway(Opens in a new window)

The Bregenz Forest Railway (, known colloquially as the Wälderbahn or Wälderbähnle), is an Austrian narrow gauge railway with a track gauge of, the so-called Bosnian gauge. It runs through the state of Vorarlberg and from 1902 to 1983 linked Bregenz on Lake Constance with Bezau in the Bregenz Forest on a 35.33 kilometre long railway line. Today only a 5.01 kilometre long section is still worked as a heritage railway. The remaining line has been closed and largely lifted.
