Powderhorn Mountain Resort is located 45 minutes east of Grand Junction, Colorado on the Grand Mesa. The area has a variety of ski terrain such as groomers, bumps, glades, and boulder fields. Powderhorn is unique among Colorado ski resorts because of its terrain and climate. Powderhorn sits on the side of one of the world's largest flattop mountains, or mesas, rather than in a mountain canyon as many ski areas do, which allows for views extending more than 20 mi across the desert below. The climate at Powderhorn's high desert location—east of Grand Junction, Colorado and slightly north and east of Colorado National Monument—produces dry, powder snow. The Rocky Mountain News said,"Powderhorn makes up for a lack of vertical with two quality terrain parks," and noted Powderhorn's "Old West feel" and focus on "families, beginner and intermediate skiers." Powderhorn has a wide variety of terrain with a few long groomed runs as well as steeper tree runs and boulder fields full of jumps and cliffs.

The Grand Valley Diversion Dam is a diversion dam in the De Beque Canyon of the Colorado River, about 15 mi northeast of Grand Junction, Colorado in the United States. It is a 14 ft high, 546 ft long concrete roller dam with six gates, which were the first and largest of their kind to be installed in the United States.

Cross Orchards Historic Site is a living history museum located in Grand Junction, Colorado. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. The Orchards are known for showing how life was on an orchard at the turn of the twentieth century and is considered living history as it is still worked and cultivated regularly. It features a workers' bunkhouse, blacksmith shop, country store, and a collection of vintage farming equipment. The site includes farm equipment, implements and tools, a period farmhouse, a recreated train depot and Uintah Railway exhibit with railroad cars, an engine and caboose, and historic horse-drawn road-building equipment. It is also home to the largest collection of Uintah Railway cars on the Colorado western slope.
