Longwood Gardens is an American botanical garden. It consists of over 1,077 acres (436 hectares; 4.36 km²) of gardens, woodlands, and meadows in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, United States in the Brandywine Creek Valley. It is one of the premier horticultural display gardens in the United States and is open to visitors year-round to enjoy exotic plants and horticulture (both indoor and outdoor), events and performances, seasonal and themed attractions, as well as educational lectures, courses, and workshops.
Marsh Creek State Park is a 1705 acre Pennsylvania state park in Upper Uwchlan and Wallace Townships, Chester County, Pennsylvania in the United States. The park is the location of the 535 acre man-made Marsh Creek Lake. With an average depth of 40 feet (73 feet at its deepest), the lake is stocked with fish and is a stop for migrating waterfowl. Marsh Creek State Park is 2 mi west of Eagle on Pennsylvania Route 100. Park road hours 8:00 am until sunset. All other access open 24 hours.
Springton Manor Farm is a historic farm and national historic district located in Wallace Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. The farm has 14 contributing buildings, 1 contributing site, and 5 contributing structures. They include the main house, a cistern (c. 1870), tool shed (c. 1850), privy (c. 1840), spring and milk house (c. 1836), carriage house (c. 1840, 1887), small barn (c. 1845), corn crib (c. 1845), bank barn (c. 1750), stone lean-to (c. 1711, 1745), the ruins of a stone spring house (c. 1735), and hydraulic dams (c. 1870). The main house is in three sections; the earliest dates about 1836, with additions and modifications made in 1887 and 1912. It is a 2 1/2-story, seven bay by two bay, stuccoed stone dwelling with Georgian and Queen Anne style design details. Originally built by Joseph Muckleduff in the early 1700s. Upon Joseph's death 9 Sep 1750, Springton Manor was left to his brother Samuel Muckleduff. [Chester Co PA Wills & Mention in Wills 1713 - 1825]. It was the home of Congressman Abraham Robinson McIlvaine (1804-1863). The property is administered as a park and agricultural history museum by Chester County.
French Creek State Park is a 7526 acre Pennsylvania state park in North Coventry and Warwick Townships in Chester County and Robeson and Union Townships in Berks County, Pennsylvania in the United States. It straddles northern Chester County and southern Berks County along French Creek. It is located in the Hopewell Big Woods. The park is the home of two lakes: Hopewell Lake, a 68 acre warm water lake, and Scotts Run Lake, a 22 acre cold water lake. The state record smallmouth bass was caught in Scotts Run Lake. There are extensive forests, and almost 40 mi of hiking and equestrian trails. The park is also friendly to mountain bikers, having some renowned technical trails. Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site, which features a cold blast furnace restored to its 1830s appearance, is surrounded by the park. The Six Penny Day Use Area and Group Camp are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. French Creek State Park is located off of Pennsylvania Route 345 to the south of Birdsboro.
