Changsha is the capital and the largest city of Hunan Province of China. Changsha is the 17th most populous city in China with a population of over 10 million, and the third-most populous city in Central China, located in the lower reaches of the Xiang River in northeastern Hunan. Changsha is also called Xingcheng (星城, 'Star City') and was once named Linxiang (临湘), Tanzhou (潭州), and Qingyang (青阳) in ancient times. It is also known as Shanshuizhoucheng (山水洲城), with the Xiang River flowing through it, containing Mount Yuelu and Orange Isle. The city forms a part of the Greater Changsha Metropolitan Region along with Zhuzhou and Xiangtan, also known as Changzhutan City Cluster. Greater Changsha was named one of the 13 emerging mega-cities in China in 2012 by the Economist Intelligence Unit. It is also a National Comprehensive Transportation Hub, and one of the first National Famous Historical and Cultural Cities in China. Changshanese, a kind of Xiang Chinese, is spoken in the downtown, while Ningxiangnese and Liuyangnese are also spoken in the counties and cities under its jurisdiction. As of the 2020 Chinese census, the prefecture-level city of Changsha had a population of 10,047,914 inhabitants.

Yuelu Academy(Opens in a new window)

The Yuelu Academy (also as known as the Yuelu Academy of Classical Learning, ) is on the east side of Yuelu Mountain in Changsha, the capital of Hunan province, China, on the west bank of the Xiang River. As one of the four most prestigious academies over the last 1000 years in China, Yuelu Academy has been a famous institution of higher learning as well as a centre of academic activities and cultures since it was formally set up during the Northern Song dynasty. The academy was converted into Hunan Institute of Higher Learning in 1903. It was later renamed Hunan Normal College, Hunan Public Polytechnic School, and finally Hunan University in 1926.

Mount Yuelu is located on the west bank of the Xiang River in Changsha, Hunan, China. Its main peak and the highest point, Yunlu Peak, is about 300 meters above the sea level.

Hunan Martyr's Park is an urban park and the largest park in Changsha, Hunan, China. Covering an area of 343.3 acre, the park was constructed and opened to the public in 1953. It is a renowned scenic spot integrating memory, leisure and tourism. Hunan Martyr's Park has been designated as a "Provincial Key Cultural Protection Unit" by the Hunan government and a "National Patriotic Education Base" by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China. In 2009 it was categorized as a "National Key Park" by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.

The Changsha Jiandu Museum is a history museum located at No. 92 of Baisha Road in Tianxin District, Changsha, Hunan, China. It is adjacent to Baisha Well in the south and Tianxin Pavilion in the west. Changsha Jiandu Museum is currently a large-scale modern themed museum dedicated to the collection, preservation, arrangement, study and exhibition of bamboo script (Jiandu). It is also an important spot of cultural and scenic interest and a window to showcase Changsha to the world. It covers an area of 14100 m2.
