Baghdad Zoo(Opens in a new window)

The Baghdad Zoo is a 200 acre zoo originally opened in 1971 and located in Baghdad, Iraq, in the Al Zawra’a Gardens area along with the Al Zawra’a Dream Park (amusement park) and Zawra'a Tower. Before the 2003 invasion of Iraq, the zoo housed 650 animals. After being decimated during the 2003 Iraqi war, when only about 35 animals survived, the zoo was reopened in 2003 and now houses about 1,070 animals.

National Museum of Iraq(Opens in a new window)

The National Museum of Iraq (Arabic: المتحف العراقي) is a museum located in Baghdad, Iraq. Also known as the Iraq Museum, it contains precious relics from the Mesopotamian, Babylonian and Persian civilization. It was looted during and after the 2003 Invasion of Iraq. International efforts led to many stolen artifacts being returned. After being closed for many years while being refurbished, and rarely open for public viewing, the museum was officially reopened in February 2015.

The Arc of Triumph (Arabic: قوس النصر Qaws an-Naṣr), also called the Swords of Qādisīyah، and Hands of Victory in some Western sources, are a pair of triumphal arches in central Baghdad, Iraq. Each arch consists of a pair of hands holding crossed swords. The two arches mark the two entrances to Great Celebrations square and the parade ground constructed to commemorate the Iran-Iraq war, led by then Iraqi President Saddam Hussein. The arches were opened to the public on August 8, 1989. It is one of Baghdad's sights and monuments and near to The Monument to the Unknown Soldier.

The Monument to the Unknown Soldier (Arabic,نصب الجندي المجهول) is a monument in central Baghdad designed by Italian architect Marcello D'Olivo and built between 1979 and 1982. It is said to be inspired by the glorification of a martyr from the Iran–Iraq War. In 1986 the national square of Iraq, Great Celebrations square, was built near the monument, and in 1989 the Victory Arches were added to celebrate the victory of the war on Iran. The Monument represents a traditional shield (dira¹a) dropping from the dying grasp of an Iraqi warrior. The monument also houses an underground museum.
