General Information

How far in advance can I book my Renfe ticket?

Most Renfe tickets are available up to 60 days in advance, with the exception of a small number of trains/routes which are bookable 120 days in advance.

How can I find the cheapest ticket for my route?

Reserve early! The earlier you book your tickets, the more chance you will have of securing the lowest fare. Renfe tickets are available up to 60 days in advance.

Fares vary depending on the date and time of travel, and tickets tend to sell out quickly during peak seasons and holidays. So, try and be flexible if you’re looking for the best deal.

Can I book the ticket for someone else?

Absolutely! Just make sure you select the correct passenger type when booking (for example adult/senior/youth/child/infant). Renfe eTickets for domestic travel within Spain don’t include passenger names so you can simply email the eTicket directly to the traveller to print for their journey.

Can we pre-allocate our seats on Renfe?

You are able to make certain requests (such as forward facing/solo seat/window/aisle etc) during our online booking process, and Renfe will do their best to meet your preferences subject to availability. Choosing your exact seat is not possible with Renfe bookings, but your seat number will be displayed on your eTicket after you have completed your purchase.

How much luggage can I take?

Each ticketed passenger may carry up to three pieces of luggage weighing a combined total of 25kg. Passengers must use the racks above your head and at the end of each car for storage.

For full details on baggage allowances, please visit the Renfe Luggage page: http://www.renfe.com/EN/viajeros/info/index.html

What happens if I need wheelchair access?

Most trains can accommodate wheelchairs, but you should check ahead with Renfe about availability and advance booking. For additional details, please visit the Renfe guide on passengers with disabilities or reduced mobility: http://www.renfe.com/EN/viajeros/atendo/servicio_atendo.html

Can I travel with my service animal or pet?

Renfe permits guide dogs and small animals such as dogs, cats, ferrets and birds, which must not be heavier than 10 kg (22 lbs). Only one pet will be allowed per passenger, and must always travel inside a cage or device with a waste containment and disposal system (with the exception of guide dogs). However, additional restrictions apply.

If you have already booked your Renfe ticket through Rome2rio and wish to travel with your service animal or pet, please visit the Renfe Travelling with Animals policy for additional details: http://www.renfe.com/EN/viajeros/info/animales.html
