How do I book tickets?

You’ve asked, and we’ve listened! We are growing the number of transport operators that can be booked directly on Rome2rio. More details on how to reserve tickets can be found in the guides below.


SELECT YOUR TRANSPORT OPERATOR:


National Rail (UK Rail)

Step 1: Visit our home page www.rome2rio.com and simply enter your UK origin and destination, then click search.

Step 2: Using the interactive menu, select ‘Train’ as your method of transport.

Step 3: Select either ‘One way’ or ‘Return Trip’, and choose your preferred travel dates and times, and the number of passengers. Then select ‘Find tickets’.

Step 4: Find your preferred train by sorting the results by time/price. If you would like to travel in comfort (for example, first class) simply click on the ‘Modify’ button on your preferred train and choose from the drop-down menu. Then click ‘Select’ on your chosen train.

UK Rail - Step 4Step 5: Enter your seat preferences, passenger information and contact details. Then click ‘Continue’.

Step 6: Enter your billing address and payment information. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club and more. Your payment card will be charged in GBP for UK Rail bookings.

Important: If the traveller is unable to present the payment card at a station in the UK to collect the tickets, please tick the box labelled “Use a different payment card for ticket collection”.

Step 7: If you agree to the terms and conditions, click ‘Buy Ticket’.

Step 8: Once the booking is confirmed, you will see an on-screen booking reference, and you will shortly receive a confirmation email from Rome2rio with your ticket collection details.


Amtrak (USA Rail)

Step 1: Visit our home page www.rome2rio.com and simply enter your origin and destination, then click search.

Step 3: Select either ‘One-way’ or ‘Return Trip’, and choose your preferred travel dates, times, and the number of passengers. Then select ‘Find tickets’.

Step 4: Find your preferred train by sorting the results by time/price. If you would like to travel in more comfort (for example, first class) simply click on the ‘Modify’ button on your preferred train and choose from the drop-down menu. Then click ‘Select’ on your chosen train.

Step 5: Enter the passenger information, contact details, and billing address. Click ‘Save & Continue’.

Step 6: Enter your payment information. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club and more. Your payment card will be charged in USD for Amtrak bookings. If you agree to the terms and conditions, click ‘Buy Ticket’.

Step 7: You will immediately receive an on-screen 6-character Amtrak booking reference, and you will shortly receive an email from Amtrak with your purchase receipt and e-ticket PDF.

Trenitalia (Italy Rail)

Step 1: Visit our homepage www.rome2rio.com and begin by entering your origin and destination. Then click “Search”.

Step 6: Enter your payment information. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club and more. Your payment card will be charged in EUR for Trenitalia bookings. If you agree to the terms and conditions, click ‘Buy Ticket’.

Step 7: Once the booking is confirmed, you will see an on-screen booking reference, and you will shortly receive a confirmation email from Rome2rio with your tickets attached.


National Express (UK Coach/Bus)

Step 1: Visit our homepage www.rome2rio.com and begin by entering your origin and destination. Then click “Search”.

Step 3: Choose your preferred travel date, time, and the number of passengers. Then select ‘Find tickets’.

Step 4: Find your preferred coach by sorting the results by time/price. Click ‘Select’ on your chosen coach to proceed.

Step 5: Enter the passenger information, contact details, and billing address. Click ‘Save & Continue’.

Step 6: Enter your payment information. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club and more. Your payment card will be charged in GBP for National Express bookings. If you agree to the terms and conditions, click ‘Buy Ticket’.

Step 7: Once the booking is confirmed, you will see an on-screen booking reference, and you will shortly receive a confirmation email from Rome2rio with your ticket collection details.


VIA Rail (Canada Rail)

Step 4: Find your preferred train by sorting the results by time/price. If you would like to travel in comfort (for example, business class) simply click on the ‘Modify’ button on your preferred train and choose from the drop-down menu. Then click ‘Select’ on your chosen train.

Step 5: Enter the seat preferences (if any), passenger details and contact details. Click ‘Continue’.

Step 6: Enter your payment information. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and more. Your payment card will be charged in CAD for VIA Rail bookings. If you agree to the terms and conditions, click ‘Buy Ticket’.

Step 7: You will immediately receive an on-screen booking reference, and you will receive two emails directly from VIA Rail. One email contains your e-ticket (boarding pass) and the second is your itinerary/receipt. During peak periods, it may take VIA Rail up to 5 hours to send these emails.


Deutsche Bahn (German Rail)

Step 1: Visit our homepage www.rome2rio.com and begin by entering your origin and destination. Then click “Search”.

Step 4: Find your preferred train by sorting the results by time/price. If you would like to travel in comfort (for example, first class) simply click on the ‘Modify’ button on your preferred train and choose from the drop-down menu. Then click ‘Select’ on your chosen train.

Step 5: Enter your passenger information, add an optional seat reservation, and provide contact and billing information. Then click ‘Save & Continue’.

Step 6: Enter your payment information. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club and more. Your payment card will be charged in EUR for Deutsche Bahn bookings. If you agree to the terms and conditions, click ‘Buy Ticket’.

Step 7: Once the booking is confirmed, you will see an on-screen booking reference, and you will shortly receive a confirmation email from Rome2rio with your tickets attached.


SNCF (French Rail), Eurostar, Thalys, Lyria, Renfe-SNCF, DB-SNCF

Step 1: Visit our homepage www.rome2rio.com and begin by entering your origin and destination. Then click “Search”.

Step 2: Using the interactive menu, select ‘Train’ as your method of transport.

Step 3: If your journey requires more than one train, they will be listed separately. Click on any train to continue. Later, in Step 5, you will be given the option to book your selected train or the entire journey where tickets are available with Rome2rio.

Step 4: Select either ‘One way’ or ‘Return Trip’, and choose your preferred travel dates, times, and the number of passengers. Then select ‘Find tickets’.

Step 5: If we can find tickets for the entire journey, rather than just the segment you have selected, you will receive a prompt to search for that instead. Select “No, thanks” to find tickets for your selected segment, or “Yes, entire journey” for the full trip.

Step 6: Find your preferred train by sorting the results by time/price. If you would like to travel in more comfort (for example, first class) simply click on the ‘Modify’ button on your preferred train and choose from the drop-down menu. Then click ‘Select’ on your chosen train.

Step 7: Enter your passenger information, contact details and billing address. Then click ‘Save & Continue’.

Step 8: Enter your payment information. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club and more. Your payment card will be charged in EUR for these bookings. If you agree to the terms and conditions, click ‘Buy Ticket’.

Step 9: Once the booking is confirmed, you will see an on-screen booking reference, and will shortly receive a confirmation email from Rome2rio with your tickets attached. If your journey includes a train operated by Thalys (high-speed train between France-Belgium-Netherlands-Germany), your e-ticket will be sent directly from the operator.


Flights

Step 1: Visit our homepage www.rome2rio.com and begin by entering your origin and destination. Then click “Search”.

Step 2: Using the interactive menu, select your preferred journey that has a ‘Fly’ segment.

Step 3: Select either ‘One-way’ or ‘Return’, and choose your preferred travel dates, number of passengers, and travel class. Then select ‘Find tickets’.

Step 4: Find your preferred flights by sorting the results by price or fastest journey. You can also narrow the results by choosing the time of day to depart or arrive, how many stopovers, which airlines and stopover airport(s). Click ‘Select’ on your chosen option to proceed.

Step 5: Your chosen flight itinerary will be displayed in further detail, and you will be provided with a list of different booking websites and their corresponding prices. Once you click “Select”, you will be redirected to your chosen agent to complete your booking.

For our users located in Australia, you may be given the option to book directly with Rome2rio. If this is the case, please continue to Step 6.

Step 6: Enter the passenger information (as per a valid passport), contact details and billing address.

Important: many countries abide by a six-month validity requirement, which means you may be denied boarding/entry if your passport isn’t valid for at least 6 months beyond your return travel date. Some countries also require you to have special authorisation – in the form of a visa or visa-waiver – to enter.
If you are booking a one-way international flight, you may be asked by immigration for a visa, proof of funds and/or an onward flight departing that country. For all visa information and requirements, we recommend that you contact the embassy of each country you plan to transit and enter.

Step 7: Enter your payment information. We accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express. Your payment card will be charged in AUD for flight bookings made with Rome2rio. If you agree to the terms and conditions, click ‘Buy Ticket’.

Step 8: Once the booking is confirmed, you will see an on-screen booking reference, and you will shortly receive a confirmation email from Rome2rio. Please note that your e-ticket and tax receipt will be emailed within 24 hours once complete.
