At Rome2rio we’re busy helping people get from A to B around the globe. With 10 million unique monthly visitors, our multi-modal travel search and booking service is one of the top online travel resources used around the world.
You will be responsible for the ongoing effort to acquire and maintain Rome2rio’s unique and highly valuable database of transport information. You will be working alongside our existing content team which includes developers, project leads and a partnership manager.
Based in Melbourne, the role offers agreed flexible office hours over a five day week and is suitable for a candidate with family responsibilities. Your role involves:
- Coordinating a global team of freelance contractors who collect transport information such as bus schedules, train routes and taxi operators.
- Working with contractors to maintain a global repository of train, bus, ferry and other transport routes.
- Researching global transport industry trends and transport operators.
- Collecting fare information, which is used to model estimated prices on Rome2rio.
- Using custom web-based tools to collect transport operator information such as fares, logos and images.
- Presenting analysis and department updates to the wider team.
Who we’re looking for
We are looking for somebody with experience in a project management, content management or similar role in an IT environment. Prior experience working with a remote team of freelancer contractors is also an advantage. If you have worked with a technology company or have prior travel technology industry experience please let us know.
You should be capable of working independently and driving projects, whilst also working closely with others. You’re a great communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills and with the insight to recognise opportunities for improvements to our processes and can communicate these ideas to our technical team. A strong eye-for-detail regarding data entry and industry research is essential.
Some solid technical skills are important for this role. We are after somebody who isn’t afraid of Excel and can, for example, put together a pivot table or tinker with content management systems and basic HTML. A passion for quality work and improving the Rome2rio user experience is essential.
You must be based in Melbourne. To be considered for this role you must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or have full Australian working rights.

Pay and Perks
Expected pay is between $60,000 and $75,000 per annum plus superannuation, depending on your skills and experience.
